Nothing is marked until a section is handed in — that is what makes it a rehearsal rather than practice, and it is the skill the day actually requires. The score afterwards is a raw score and is described as one: neither publisher releases the tables that turn raw answers into the number a school sees.
The mock papers and the report
Practice tells your child whether they got a question right. A paper tells you something practice cannot: how they do across a whole sitting, answering 298 questions in a row without being told, on 298 questions they have never seen. The report afterwards says which topics the marks went missing in — which is the half a score does not tell you, and the half that decides what to do with the weeks that are left.
