If you teach the eighth grade at a school whose students sit the TACHS or the HSPT, this page is for you. Everything on it is free and nothing asks a student to sign up. The sheets are ours, the answer keys are ours, and the dates on the handout are the publisher’s, quoted.
What a class can use for nothing

The TACHS Ability subtest is the one you cannot teach from what you have
Reading, writing and math are school subjects with homework behind them. Paper folding, figure matrices and figure classification are not: no lesson covers them, the handbook gives a handful of samples, and a teacher cannot draw fresh ones by hand. There are 1,140 free Ability questions here, drawn on screen and built to the rules the publisher’s own answer key describes.
Printable class sets
One sheet per subtest, 20 questions each, laid out for paper and lettered the way the exam letters its answer sheet. Each has a key with the answer and a line on why. The sheet and the key print the same set number, so you can tell they match.
The sets come from the same pool the free practice pages deal from, never from the mock paper, so a student who has done a sheet in class meets none of it on a paper their family may later sit.
A one-page handout for parents
The dates, the deadline, what is on the exam and what the publisher does not publish, on one sheet, every fact quoted from the publisher’s own handbook. Registration closes October 28, 2026. There is no late registration.
Nothing is collected from a student
- Practice without signing in writes nothing anywhere. There is no email wall and no sign-up before a question, and the sheets need no device at all.
- No tracking pixel, no click capture, no session recording. The analytics counts page views and nothing about who viewed them, because the reader of a practice page is thirteen.
- Accounts are the parent’s, not the school’s. A family that wants the site to keep track opens one; what it stores is which questions were answered right or wrong, and nothing a child typed. It is all set out on the privacy page, which describes what the software does rather than reserving rights.
What we do not claim
- These are not the exam’s questions. They are original, built to the formats each publisher describes. Neither publisher endorses this site, and one of them advises parents publicly to avoid expensive preparation.
- No score is predicted. The tables that turn raw answers into a percentile are not published by anybody, so any site offering a predicted score is guessing.
- Practice does not replace teaching. What it does is remove surprises: a child who has seen a paper-folding question before does not lose the first minute of the section working out what is being asked.
If it is useful, two small things
Pass the address on to your eighth-grade families, or link it from the school’s page for them. And tell us what is wrong: a line to [email protected] from a teacher who has used a sheet with a real class is worth more to this site than anything else it could receive before November. We would rather fix it before the exam than after.
Questions teachers ask
- Can a school use these questions in class?
- Yes, and that is what the sheets are for. Every question is original and written for this site, so there is nothing of the publisher's to reprint. Print a sheet for the class, mark it from the key, and send students to the free practice pages for more of the same kind.
- Is there a PDF?
- Each sheet and each key is a page laid out for paper. Open it and print, or choose "Save as PDF" in the print dialog. The sheet and its key carry the same set number, so a sheet printed in September can be matched to a key printed later.
- Do students need an account?
- No. Nothing on the practice pages asks for a name, an email or a login, and a student who practices without signing in is recorded nowhere. Accounts exist only for a family that wants the site to keep track for them.
- Are these the real exam questions?
- No. The publishers' questions are their property and the paper changes every year. These are original questions built to the formats the publishers describe in their own handbooks, and the site says so on every page.
